It hung above the dinning table when I was a little girl and I used to sit opposite it. I spent many a meal - <span style="font-style: italic;">I remember a steak egg and chips </span>- looking at it and studying the hidden treasures in it.<br /><br />It was very special to my dad and this has added to my appreciation of it. The photo will be sent to you to see and you will then choose to opt in or opt out. Once eveyone has confirmed I will then dye the wool, each ball is 120g -20g more than usual so that knee highs /shawls can be knitted- and will come with 10g of co-ordinating imported luxury sock wool. <strong>These wools will be dyed using more time consuming dye methods with the intention of creating ‘yarn art’</strong> </div><br /><div><br />This season the photo is of agathpanthus and the luxury wool is 70%merino and 30% peace silk. </div><br /><div></div><br /><div></div><br /><div>photo courtesy of <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/people/denizyildiz">denizyildiz</a> :)</div><br /><div><br />The cost is R150 per season and this includes postage. Bring to the boil, and simmer until guavas are soft. Allow to cool poor off the syrup and keep in the fridge.<br /><br />They can be stored in preserving bottles but we eat them so fast that I dont see any reason to squeeze them in small bottles. Instead I put them in a glass bowl in the fridge. They can last for a week but we usually finish them in 2-3 days. I strain and freeze the syrup and re-use this the next time I make guavas.<br /><br />Best served with fresh custard, yum!<div class="blogger-post-footer">Our Holistic Life</div>Carlehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05190166597318712974noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5183941516871847744.post-61002453346022507332009-09-02T18:28:00.001+02:002009-09-02T18:42:39.650+02:00Kittens [and Mittens]<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXkBisaT6ROW3_NWIyg10xa6mi0I8f6eeMesM3FPtu8FvZRTZ-rkmVotDa1-NeywoKcqkTq9xdot1XH3lwP-1ozygI_MqjAoCpijSNYjD1wyMGKQqHFSIkF8BSht2Kzz_CL9MKzqcHk7w/s1600-h/018.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5376909628007352338" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXkBisaT6ROW3_NWIyg10xa6mi0I8f6eeMesM3FPtu8FvZRTZ-rkmVotDa1-NeywoKcqkTq9xdot1XH3lwP-1ozygI_MqjAoCpijSNYjD1wyMGKQqHFSIkF8BSht2Kzz_CL9MKzqcHk7w/s400/018.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div>Oh arent they sweet, I woke up to Tiger birthing her two little kittens on my bed - where else could be better than on 'mums mohair blankie'. :-)</div><div> </div><div></div><div></div><div>It brings to mind...</div><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><div>2 Little kittens lost their mittens and they began to cry</div><div>"Oh Mother dear we sadly fear, </div><div>our mittens we have lost!"</div><div>"What lost your mittens,</div><div>You naughty kittens,</div><div>then you shall have no pie!"</div><br /><div></div><div>2 Little kittens found their mittens and they began to cry,</div><div>"Mother dear, see here see here,</div><div>Our mittens we have found!"</div><div>"What! I have been having so much fun and am so thankful that I have such great fibres in my fibre box [erm shelf... erm ok I admit it, it is a cupboard of fibre!]<br /><br />So to celebrate the giveaway of my hand-dyed sock wool on Naturalsuburbia.blogspot.com , I have decided to offer a 10% discount on my handspun etsy listings. Here they are...<br /><br />[if you are wanting one then send me a mail on <a href="mailto:dehningc@gmail.com">dehningc@gmail.com</a> ]<br /><strong></strong><br /><strong></strong><br /><strong>Crystal Beaded Silk Merino 2ply yarn</strong><br />Sooo pretty! <span style="color:#cc0000;"><strong>AND ITS SOLD!<br /></strong></span><br />I had such fun with this one, it is a beautiful blend of silk, 19,5 micron merino and crystal beads.Weight:51g [1,8oz]Length: approx 110m. The merino is hand dyed in a warm mushroom tone and the silk was hand dyed in a warm pink, blues with the odd bit of golden sun peeking in.The crystal beads are a soft pink - they tone in perfectly. The result is a subtle colour way with great character.I can also spin some more of the mushroom merino to be used with this skein.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNM9i3s2Ghw6uVf6PJy3hIIwWMNxDc_-4GCOBGu4-xdJItK38wG0jeDQI0aSjL5fP3gXl_Jf6hqTTa8w8Ypi33xUoWoK1KhzbBbDB0Pg2vGQgBMrC-RqB8F7ws2TJQx3GHOwKjUbBwCK4/s1600-h/Balls+of+handspun+013.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355290639232565202" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNM9i3s2Ghw6uVf6PJy3hIIwWMNxDc_-4GCOBGu4-xdJItK38wG0jeDQI0aSjL5fP3gXl_Jf6hqTTa8w8Ypi33xUoWoK1KhzbBbDB0Pg2vGQgBMrC-RqB8F7ws2TJQx3GHOwKjUbBwCK4/s400/Balls+of+handspun+013.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5WyfhxTtj-D1EFHCrwqA3EVgtp3JswvOem-QZSm85mmLgVFhxOV6LFvpSIYaHBAri0eFZNM_cDk-LaTKHx_cML6IzRIO9fX7dnDG7v9gjZeFzh4vlt4bCuJGInaVJqVvAIYPgxX_rYXk/s1600-h/Balls+of+handspun+009.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355290634876618882" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5WyfhxTtj-D1EFHCrwqA3EVgtp3JswvOem-QZSm85mmLgVFhxOV6LFvpSIYaHBAri0eFZNM_cDk-LaTKHx_cML6IzRIO9fX7dnDG7v9gjZeFzh4vlt4bCuJGInaVJqVvAIYPgxX_rYXk/s400/Balls+of+handspun+009.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><div><strong>INDIAN SUMMER</strong>:</div><br /><br /><div>52g of yummy chunky hand-spun. </div><br /><div>Very soft and yummy!</div><br /><div></div><div>19,5 micron hand-dyed Merino blended with a goober ball bought from Heartstringsbydee.
